BASBOUSA



An Egyptian Delicacy with the richest of ingredients cooked in simple way.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Sooji / Rawa / Semolina - 500 gms
  • Coconut powder - 1 1/2 glass
  • Butter - 250 gms
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Milk - 1 glass
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
FOR SYRUP:
  • Sugar - 2 glasses
  • Water - 2 glasses
METHOD:
  1. Mix together semolina, coconut powder, butter, sugar, baking powder, milk and vanilla essence with your hands.
  2. On a flat baking tray spread the mixture evenly and make cuts of desired shapes.
  3. Place an almond in the centre and press slightly.
  4. Bake in a pre heated oven for 30 mins at 180 deg centigrade.
  5. Make a syrup with sugar and water .
  6. Into the baked burfees Strain and pour the sugar syrup.
  7. Rest the burfees for 1 hour.
  8. Remove one by one along the cuts on the basbousa very carefully.
  9. On a serving plate drizzle a tsp of honey and place the basbousa.
  10. Ready to serve.
N.B: Tastes best when served chilled.
